MSM Confessions – Valentine’s Day

Some love Valentine’s Day while others dread it. Personally, I think it is totally over-rated and just another corporate holiday for retailers to grab your money. I could give you many reasons why I am not a huge fan of the holiday but instead, I will tell you about some of the advantages of Valentine’s Day!

  1. Valentine’s chocolates and candies go on sale the next day!
  2. You don’t have to pay inflated pricing on flowers.
  3. Flowers go on sale the next day if you like to buy flowers for yourself.
  4. You will have ZERO disappointments if you are single.
  5. You won’t be stuck sitting at a table with your significant other forcing conversation. (I’ve been there…thus a reason I am divorced lol)
  6. You won’t get stuck at the two-seated fold-out table that is put in the middle of the aisle for the holiday which is normally table free. (Been there too!)
  7. You don’t have to worry about what to get your significant other if the relationship is new.
  8. You can sit at home where it is quiet and warm and drink wine like you would most other nights.
  9. OR you can go out to Valentine’s happy hour where all are welcome (single or not). My friends are awesome!
  10. Did I mention chocolates are drastically reduced the days following Valentine’s day?
  11. You save money.
  12. You can mock the holiday with a fun shirt like this one --->
  13. V-day really means celebrate vodka day.
  14. You could go to the gym and possibly find another single person to meet.
  15. You can show your friends who are secretly bored with their marriage that being single is way more fun and their judgment of you is stupid.

In my opinion, if you are in a relationship, you should always be showing your appreciation for the love you share.  I would much rather have someone do something unexpected for me any other day than Valentine’s Day.  My Valentine’s Day this year will be spent celebrating my single status with many other happy singles drinking vodka! Happy Valentine's Day!
